US threatens new sanctions over conflict in Ethiopia’s Tigray
The United States is threatening to impose more sanctions against the warring sides in Ethiopia’s Tigray region.
A new executive order opens the door to sanctioning members of the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front and the Amhara regional government.
The conflict has left thousands dead and almost one million people are living in famine-like conditions.
