{"id":14241,"date":"2022-04-28T08:50:30","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T08:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/axumawian.com\/?p=14241"},"modified":"2022-04-28T20:50:11","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T20:50:11","slug":"tigray-expresses-solidarity-with-oromos-fight-for-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/axumawian.com\/?p=14241","title":{"rendered":"Tigray expresses solidarity with Oromo\u2019s Fight for Freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Source: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/globenewsnet.com\/news\/tigray-expresses-strong-solidarity-with-oromos-fight-for-freedom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Globe News Net<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/globenewsnet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/TEAO-Statement-in-Support-of-the-Oromo-Peoples-Fight-for-Freedom-26-April-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read full statement of Government of Tigray in PDF<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tigray expressed solidarity with the ongoing fight by the Oromo for their freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement today, Tigray government said that the people and government of Tigray support the struggle the Oromo have waged for \u201ctheir freedom, and rights of self-determination and self-administration that are enshrined in the FDRE constitution.\u201d<br>\u201cAs the victims of the Abiy regime\u2019s premeditated campaign to annihilate them, the people and Government of Tigray have a great appreciation for the Oromo people\u2019s fight for their right to survive as a people\u201d, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor that reason, the people and Government of Tigray stand unequivocally with the Oromo people as they exercise their legitimate right of self-defense\u201d, the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement condemned the Ethiopian government deploying \u201cevery destructive tool at his disposal, including armed drones, helicopter gunships and jets\u201d to squash the armed struggle in Oromia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn recent weeks, the Abiy regime has ramped up its indiscriminate campaign to terrorize the Oromo people into subjugation by embarking on a new round of brutal military campaign across Oromia. Designed to eliminate the OLA and, by extension, extinguish the Oromo people\u2019s yearning for freedom\u201d, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement praised the Oromo Liberation Army(OLA) that is says \u201chas been fighting against the tyrannical Abiy regime\u2019s attempt to suppress the Oromo people\u2019s hard-won rights\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement said that Oromia has been under de facto military rule since 2018 following Abiy\u2019s ascension to the premiership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement reminded that the Ethiopian government has committed deplorable atrocity crimes against the people of Tigray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement called an end to the use of force to solve \u2018fundamental political and ideological clashes\u2019. The statement also called for a genuine, all-inclusive national dialogue that involve all stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>Oromo Liberation Army<\/strong>&nbsp;(<strong>OLA<\/strong>) (<strong>WBO<\/strong>) split from the&nbsp;Oromo Liberation Front&nbsp;(OLF) in 2018 after OLF group signed a peace deal with the federal government to end the&nbsp;Oromo conflict. But, some see it as the armed wing of the OLF. The Ethiopian government calls the OLA as&nbsp;\u2018<strong>Shene\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group has been fighting the Ethiopian government since its splinter from the OLF in 2018. By late October 2021, the OLA controlled much of the Welega Province; the group also took control of&nbsp;Kamisee&nbsp;on 31 October 2021 at the same time the&nbsp;Tigray Defence Forces&nbsp;took control of&nbsp;Kombolcha.
